I believe for every drop of rain that falls
    A flower grows,
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
    A candle glows,
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
Someone will come to show the way,
    I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm a smallest prayer (to imagined entity that does not exist)
    Will still be heard,
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
    Hears every word,
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
    Then I know why,
    I believe.

Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
    Then I know why,
    I believe.

Same vicinity as you and I've just turned my heating off! Where are the bumblebees?

Indeed! Rather too reminiscent of the departure, from the Earth, of the dolphins.

I was in a friend's garden in London last weekend and she has deliberately grown plants that attract bees and the place was buzzing

Welsh Poppies (meconopsis - should really be "Meganopsis"), Foxgloves, Buddliea (depending on the size of your patch) all attract bees and keep them happy for hours. You need to cut back foxgloves and Welsh Poppies after they've finished flowering, or they'll take over the rest of the garden - but this is a "low maintenance" task that even a novice like yours truly can cope with. Gloriously "happy" flowers, too!

I have cranesbill (perennial geranium) covering quite a large area, don't know which varieties but one is deep purple, the other magenta - yes, it sounds gaudy but I call it striking! The flowers are always covered with bees, they are also loving the ceanothus and the firethorn blossom at the moment plus what I think is a hebe, which is a mass of tiny white flowers.. I did plant a buddleia (Black Knight - a really dark purple) for butterflies and bees but unfortunately it's not doing too well this year, I think it's in too shady a place. I haven't seen many bumbles this year apart from on the foxgloves my neighbour has on the boundary. A friend has masses of Welsh poppies (but orange rather than yellow), I intend to get some seeds from her for next year.

Ontopic, it's cold here and still very windy. I should be finishing my digging but it's not very inviting, we are promised some sunshine later this afternoon. I thought, while I wait for that, I might catch up with The White Queen - anyone seen it/recommend it?

                            Decorative tosh...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I hope BBC1's Countryfile be good tonight, as they will have a feature on Kent. Where my family went to via Norfolk, after being booted out of Yorkshire!!(or was it Lancashire, one of the two!! :))

That would have been a dangerous line to utter, 550 years ago!!
