(I have never been a dog-owner, I like the thought of 8thObs scruffy lurchers)

Anna,he is an 8 year old Labrador.
He is very, very lazy (this breed tend to be so),wont run after a ball or fetch a stick so I have to walk him
I sit at a desk all week so need the exercise too.
I try to walk him at least 2 miles every day, more at weekends
      I THINK he enjoys it!!!!

Give him a chocolate biscuit and tell him you love him!

We had a black labrador when I was a child and they are wonderful dogs, very safe with children around. Once domestic and employment situation allows I would love to have one again.

Yes Pet they are wonderful dogs.
I can usually work one or two days a week at home,my wife and son work day, evening and weekend shifts so Harry the dog is not left home alone for long periods.
Absolutely safe as houses around the grandchildren too.

                A dog that won't fetch a ball?!?

Thats like going to the seaside and not skimming stones.
                Doesn't compute.

Anyway, lovely doggy you have there, ER. Has he taken to listening to music without the headphones?

Edit: Weather in South Wilts.....best ignored. Feeble effort.

EEEEads! that's most unusualo. My eldest sister has had quite a few Labs in her time, and all of them have been very energetic, to say the least!

Rob,what a lovely doggie and hugh picture.

I've only had a Cairn Terrier but your dog is gorgeous.

If Mahlerei is reading this, what about a new picture of Sky some time. She's lovely too.

Oh dear, the last time I registered a weather situation much like the current developing one was on July 11th-12th 1982, when a massive storm broke out at 2 am over Bristol, lasting until 3 pm the following day, with more than 4 inches of rain falling during that time. With weather systems "blocked" we then had 3 more days of high humidity and storms, until the pattern unblocked itself, and I have some great pictures of high-base storm clouds, taken on my Instamatic camera (remember those?) then pasted into my diary.

One salutary side to this tale which fits into the picture the weatherpersons are presenting right now is that high pressure from the west subsequently established itself right across the country, giving glorious weather that lasted for the remainder of the month; so let's hope meteorological history is about to repeat itself!

I've owned one or two Labradors in my time BBM,they have a tendency to become lazy and put on weight as they get older, you have to make the effort to exercise them.

That Sky is one good looking dog too.

He looks like I used to feel after 10 overs up the hill on a hot July Saturday !
