er having regard to the fate of Anna's neighbour i would say that helmets are essential at all times Thropplenoggin as is the thing to wear in a heatwave .....
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.
It's almost as if the country knows its prodigal son is returning home. Thropplenoggin & Co. remove themselves permanently from France to Blighty as of Tueday.
Best of luck with the move, Throppers. Are you being handled professionally?
In the past few days of fine weather, my tiny patio garden as been visited several times by pairs of cabbage white flutterbyes. Now I cannot be certain of course that it isn't the same pair but in these days of insect doom & gloom I was rather cheered by this sight

Yes, and I too have spotted quite a number of butterflies so far this season - more than during the whole of last year, though maybe I wasn't being observant. Many many bumble bees too!
Here's a track from a favourite LP in my collection, a kind of jazz ricercar, I'd guess - you'll see why the choice!

One of the clearest atmospheres I can remember - horizon-to-horizon cloudlessness, details on Hampstead hills 12 miles to the north as clear as a bell through binoculars!
Withe the exception of Poor old Scotland, once a cold front makes its passage across the UK tomorrow and tomorrow night it looks to be mainly dry until the middle of next week - when I assume some sort of thundery breakdown is due to take place - with rising temperatures up to 23 C in the S and SE by Tuesday. Great news for Bank Holidaymakers!
I think most people now call it Early Spring bank holiday. A couple of years ago I recall the Government planned to scrap it and have a holiday in October instead, which seemed sensible as it's a long time from August bank holiday until Christmas without a break. The next bank holiday in May is 27th, what used to be Whit Monday which was changed to Late Spring bank holiday on a permanent date as Whitsun, being a religious holiday, is a moveable feast (Whit Monday is May 20th this year) No experience of such matters but it seems in the North Whitsun was very big, processions, etc
On topic, a balmy day, and even hotter at 16°
Yes S_A, sorry for Scotland but less wind here for the first time. Actually sat in the garden for a bit.
Bank Holiday, what's this one called then ?
It has been thought hereabouts is Scotland and if that is the case we have a simply glorious day with very light winds. We are dog sitting Criminal daughters 2 border terriers and they are stretched out on the lawn sunning themselves.
