Perhaps you can help me - I was looking at a TV programme about Sissinghurst recently and remembered a beautiful orange coloured little plant I bought there. Isthere something called,approximately 'Venidio Arctotis' ? Don'tlaugh, Ican't find itin my gardening books.

Very nasty in Ultima Thule - billows of snow on the fells, sleet and rain at lower levels driven by fierce easterlies.

Beautiful plant saly that I had never heard of, would brighten any garden, love daisy type flowers. Where I lived before had loads of Marguerites, but as you say your Arcotis didn't thrive in heavy soil (I have clay you could make pots with) probably not for me, but I could try in a container?
Horribly cold, cloud base just 363ft, couldn't even see the Church spire and it only crept to around 4.4° and an hour of heavy snow, it stuck, then unstuck.
Tonight will be cwtched up with book and then on BBC4, Bob Servant - Independent - not sure if mangerton's watching it, had not realised Broughty Ferry was a real place, suburb of Dundee, until the last episode! I think it's funny ....... but I guess that's just me

Oh yes, it's a very real place, and I've been glued with a lot of my friends and colleagues, not least to spot the locations. Social event of the year here. Brian Cox of course is a Dundonian, and Jonathan Watson has a long pedigree in Scottish comedy. The Bob Servant books too are well worth a read.

We've had "light" snow in Dundee all day today, and it never looked particularly heavy It just didn't stop for about nine hours. I went out to my car at 4.30 and had about 3" of snow to remove before driving home. The snow has now turned to rain and it's all a horrible wet sticky mess out there. I expect it will be gone by morning here, though outside the city on the higher ground it will last a bit longer.

A very Spring like day, temperature at the moment is showing 11.3° at local weather station, blue sky and sunshine from around 9.30am after very rainy night, halfway through the month already so barring accidents and misfortunes the daffodils will be blooming by March 1st. Anyone got any Valentine's Day cards or having a romantic evening?

Er no and no Anna. Still a cold wind here. I'd never heard of that flower until I bought it years ago.Being Vita Sackville West's Sissinghurst it was,of course, a double flower, hideously expensive, and very short lived in my clay soil.
Like a brief romance I shall always remember it though.

A fine sunny day in Dundee. Drove home without lights for the first time this year. As I thought, the snow is all gone in the city, except where it's been ploughed into lumps.
