Blizzards etc oop 'ere blotting out most of the most northerly cross-Pennines A-roads.
Notice they did not make the lunchtime news. Well, well, what a surprise.
Ample coverage this evening of treacherous icy hills near Huddersfield and Meltham, bringing back memories of winter trips to the grandparents' in my childhood. Looks nasty

Oh no! hope you have a lot of Spitfire with you Cali!!
Nay lad, I'm tucked up warm with a cup of tea in Bayswater!! The winters on snowy hills in W Yorks were in the 1960s and 70s!

Thanks 8th, am having a few quiet days as back is very painful atm. Quiet broken today by chimney being repointed; glad it's done though.
Any news of S-A? I expect it his signalgone again, he seems to have trouble with that quite often.
Ah good....a few quiet days of the right sort of quiet + equilibrium not always easily found....Anna will be pleased with your repointing.....
Must be a trifle inclement on your cyber hill these days, 8th?

A mixture of sunny intervals and a few shoiwers, with a rather cold blustery wind today!
Orchestra tonight, and only brass and strings too, so will be able to get the kids doing some ensemble stuff!! :)
Nothing like a good sectional !
Perhaps a well-deserved for Sir afterwards?

Yes, excellent news about saly's repointing and that she can at last turn her gas fire on and be toasty warm! Cold weather does make bad backs worse.
Nothing to complain about here as regards weather, 5.8° but feels about 1°, bitterly cold wind again but bright and dry. Saw a load of colourful primulas (self-seeded from gardens?) on the high grassy bank alongside the lane yesterday.
Indeed! Might have a nice pint of Shepherd Neame Spitfire in the cupboard!!
Now there's a surprise - although I imagine there's no "might" about it ....

I like Spitfire as well but yesterday had an interesting one called Bleddyn 1075, an organic bitter from a small brewery in Pontygwindy, flavoursome with very crisp citrussy overtones I thought. I think I'll try some more of their output as I was impressed with it.
Excellent idea, Bbm; but more comfortable in an armchair!
Ferney... My #1707 reply to BBM had that exact same phrase in it.... then I edited it out... largely because it was linked with indelicate speculation on my part as to Mrs BBM's strict régime at Brass Band Towers!!
