No-one has had any weather for two days!!! It's been quite warm here, 13.9°, in fact quite muggy, but lacking in sunshine. Yesterday was horribly rainy until about mid-afternoon. However, looking out first thing this morning, in a rather weird yellowy light the trees in all their colours were beautiful.

The mention of bread sauce got me thinking of Christmas menus ..... <sigh> In fact, talking to a friend, we decided the best part of Christmas dinner were the roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots; sprouts and chestnuts, cranberry sauce and good gravy. So who needs meat with all those goodies?

mangerton, how did the flogging of your wares for Children in Need go? Successful I hope?
Edit: cross posted with S_A about being unseasonably warm!

Oh, I much prefer to indulge nasty, rude, men! It's far more fun ....

To keep on topic, I think I have decided which barometer to purchase and it will be from Barometer World in Devon, who seem amiable enthusiasts and who offer temperature compensation and twin cylinders.

It was worse in the distant past in the library, Cali, those orchestral librarians, particularly Clem Relf of the Philharmonia Orchestra [bless] He told us some wonderful stories, but had been one of the prisoners of war building that railway, so he deserved to relax a bit.

I suppose HS is the only person here who would remember him. All the orchestral librarians were special people but largely taken for granted.

Back on topic. It hasn't been light all day and there has been drizzle at times. An indoors day.

Only single-entendres in his stories, eh? Sounds excellent.

Even googling William Tell joke + chorus girls gets me nowhere .....

Edit: Actually saly, if it would embarrass you, we can just imagine it, with the Lone Ranger and Tonto, don't feel compelled.

Well, visit me in clink, won't you. Changing vowels to pass the tuk tuks.

Someone couldn't remember how the well know bit of the overture went. Then he saw the eight girls on stage in a row and remembered they were facing front, back,f, b, f, b, b,b.. Think totty and bam.

I want my supper.... If you can do AA youcan get this. over and out.

It's not really rude at all.......

I don't know about you others, but I've been waiting for this for a few days, and at last it came. Now we can all relax.

Anna, I look forward to hearing all about your barometer. I wish you many fruitful years of tapping. I've just tapped mine and it replied 1007 mb. Temp on the way home at 4.30 was 12°C. Damp - dreich, actually, it had been raining, and it was all a bit unpleasant.

Thanks for asking, my wares all sold like hot cakes, possibly because there were no hot cakes for sale, though there were many at room temperature. I received several requests for the recipe. I believe last week's events raised between £500 and £600 for Ch in Need.

Thank you. Your remark about dialect..... how true, how true. There probably is no such thing, though; more accurately, there are a great many, all different, depending on which part of the country you're from. I look forward to hearing about cylinders and temperature compensation. Temperature compensation in Scotland is simply "If you're cold, put on another semmit!" (pron. "simmit")

Yes, that is correct, though of course I wouldn't describe you as a numpty.
