(and thanks for all the weather predictions and all that jazz)
Thanks very much handsomefortune!
I've had a quick word with Him Upstairs, and He's agreed to rearrange weather patterns in a more usual orderly fashion for the time being. By the way, he DID send the Americans Hurricane Sandy as a warning not to vote for the Mormon, he told me, but His followers were all too busy praying to notice. I always suspected as such.
Only 8.5 C max here today; thick layer of stratocumulus - textbook T1/2 type airstream in November.
[QUOTE=mangerton;221035]Oh dear, saly. I hope you are now properly warmed up.
It was another car-scraping evening after work at 8.00 yesterday. This morning though it was mildish and wet. At 4.30 tonight it was a surprising 12°C and 1009 mb.[/QU................................................ .................................................. ..
Thank you mangerton, I've had a headache ever since, my fault I suppose. Warmer today though
OMG, it is really S_A's birthday today? Gosh, and I haven't even got a Fohn Effect video gift wrapped for him, nor a current barometer reading ......... <hangs head in shame>
So, S_A, many

Er, yesterday, but thanks! Don't worry on any of these scores - the ex g/f's forgotten, too!
I know adulthood's now supposed to arrive at 18 - it still hasn't in my case, but that's another subject.
I'll never forget mine! Parents booked a swanky local country club. £500 to hire - a lot of money in 1966. I had to hire evening jacket and bow tie from Moss Bros. 200 turned up. Expected as I was to make a speech, I drank half one of the bottles of bubbly to steady my nerves. 200 guests! The following day Dad asked if I'd enjoyed the experience. I white-lied yes. "Oh good", he said, "because we had thought of buying you a car instead"!

Oh, but I won't forget next year because - just how spooky is this? - it's my sister's birthday today!
(And, uptodate barometer reading: risen to 1020.7 and a high of 11.6° today)

Warmer than here - that's because you're in the lee of the Welsh mountains.
What a coincidence about your sis's birthday, Anna!

Yes, parents always held back fireworks from the 5th until the 7th for her. But, OMG, my brothers are 1st July and 25th May - just how many more coincidences can there be on this MB? I am April 12th btw (Just for future reference you understand .....)

saly! Hush your mouth! I imagine S_A, with his frequent excursions to Oxford Street to source his favoured 'Oxford Professor sports coats syle, leather elbow patches' etc., likes to be a crusty intellectual, but he does loads of cycling and only affects an Old Fogey personal because he knows that makes him so attractive to women wanting to iron the creases out of his shirts .. Probably his jazz habit may get minus points .....
