    Mornin' Sal

Suppose it could just be a heavy frost, but the car and grass have had a dusting. Having new windows put in on Friday, so hope the weather doesn't go downhill again.

What sort of windows are you replacing?

Single-glazed with wood frames that are in a very bad way. New double-glazed units with special glass to keep out heat in summer and retain it in winter. Just hope the weather holds on Friday....

It sounds just the job. I'd been wondering whether you were replacing existing double glazing. Some of the early units were inferior to modern ones.

These old wooden frames are softwood, so i'm amazed they've lasted this long. The more you pay the more sophisticated the spec; even at a modest price they're streets ahead of the old uPVC windows.

yep and boiler and radiator design has not stood still these last ten years ... my windows are like yours were Mahleri, radiators ar least twenty five years old, boiler must be 12 or more, loft insulation see windows ... and a light dusting of snow this morning in the middle kingdom ...

Afternoon salymap and Stormyweatherites I'm beginning to think these boards should be sponsored by what used, in the NE at least, be called the CWS! But just to prove how some things are indeed universal Lady Gould and I are sitting in a hotel in Geneva and what do we look down on - you guessed it - a Coop supermarket no "relation" but same name!

Good evening anton, so you have taken us with you then? Yes,Co-ops do seem to have dominated this thread recently.
I felt quite excited to see all the pies, cakes, puddings and biscuits all lined up for me. It's not the same to get family to bring in some sprouts and a loaf. If I can't afford new clothes, then I'll get my thrills with food.

Anton, Saly and the other Coop fans: when you say "no relation" you should understand that we all subscribe to the same Values and Principles as members of the ICA (International Cooperative Alliance), also based in Geneva for many years.

We are members of one cooperative community which is important worldwide.

Would that be Geneva, Illinois ?

I must get on with boring and back breaking hoovering now decorations are down. Seems very cold too. Have a good day everyone.

Hope the hoovering is now over...I prefer a stiff brush as even the most "healthy" German machine gives me shortness of breath and grit behind the eyes.

Builders came at 8am and tracked scaffolding through the house in a downpour - you can imagine...but at least they were taking it away and the worst should be over.

I'd be a lot happier in a large igloo.
