S_A, I bought the new RT today, not had a chance to open it.
I've read that article... bit thin, I thought, as always with RT... More sycophancy and marketing-copy than anything else, but that's the game and there are perhaps some interesting things to be learnt...

Oh, shame if you have to cancel. Just looked at our local (small capacity) cinema website, they are taking bookings (and what a long film it is, 2hr23m!) so I think I'll sort something out re tickets tomorrow. Anyway, it's only a fiver lost if I don't like it and walk out.

Mild and muggy here 'midst the pit heaps - the wind and snow have not been kind to our Acer but it is always a picture at this time of year!

            Seriously?

You mean the temperature's in upper single figures rather than lower...?

... but can you get guacamole with your fish'n'chips in Salford?

... and if you can, it would be a significant reason to stay clear of the place...

I like tartare sauce with my fish and chips - but if it's chips on their own I go for mayonnaise, very rarely ketchup. Grey, cloudy, drizzly on and off. 10.5° so I guess not too bad but somehow it feels colder than yesterday, it did dip to -0.4° last night. I forgot about the clocks changing so got up at usual 7am not realising it was really 6am, so I didn't get an extra hours sleep!
Edit: Whilst it's nice to get up when it's light at 2.30pm here now on a gloomy day it's nearly turn the light on time, and nothing worse to think of coming home to a dark house for months and months, must sort out the timer for a lamp.

                          Only if you're Peter Mandelson.

Yes, it'll be dark here this evening around 5.00 pm. Milder here today, 9°, and damp, but no rain.

On a fish and chip note, do the Welsh remove the skin from their fish before applying the batter, like the Scots, or leave it on and batter over it, like the English?

... and suddenly vinrouge's innocent gastronomic reference takes on the more ambiguous hue of a dubious euphemism...

                                There's always one!

Couldn't you have gone back for a lie-in once you'd realised?
