Horrible, grey, dull. Been a bit sniffy, going to cook mega-hot chicken curry with, onion bhajis, spinach and dhal pakoras, topped with crispy fried onions and natural yoghurt. Should sort the bugs out and send them packing. Uni of Birmingham did research, chillies and spices are more effective than antibiotics. Makes sense to me.

I saw this article about Echinacea in the Telegraph yesterday. I have a friend who takes it throughout the Winter so I think if you're prone to colds it's worth trying.

A lot of research is being done as to the beneficial effects of spices. One in particular, turmeric, is currently being trialled (with good results) in relation to bowel cancer, staving off Alzheimers and immediate post-stroke treatment. My cousin, who has two small children, always adds turmeric when she's cooking them rice as she says it's a natural antiseptic. As for colds, I seldom get them, but there's nothing like a good shot of chilli for relieving blocked noses and making you feel 100% better! Ginger is a brilliant anti-nausea remedy and the health benefits of garlic are well known. However, sceptics would say that if spices are so good for you why do people from Pakistan or India still get ill?
