These young 'uns should pay more attention to the predictive powers of your bionic bunion, salymap!

I remember those big flies in Salzburg and Innsbruck years ago. It was summertime and they ruined many a walk as they bit us. Ants are still flying here too, we need a frost at night to zap them.

... o, have pity on the poor ants! They only have their one day of glory, flying about - they'll be dead within 24 hours - they don't need a frost to kill them off...

I thought that was Maybugs or some such name that lived one day. Okay, I'll stay indoors and pity them.

Yes, saly, mayflies or éphémères in French.

Musical ref: They appear in Poulenc's Figure Humaine.

                (I know, I'm a source of useless knowledge. )

Knowledge is hardly ever useless Mangerton, thank you.

It looks like it's gonna last at least until the weekend, as well as getting warmer again!

Amazing change from yesterday. Even last night, towards midnight, I was cycling home from Deptford in a T-shirt and finding the sultriness hard going!

Bees seem to be everywhere in the garden - at last they've decided to put in an appearance.

I was tottering uphill on Salusbury Road NW6 at about 15:30 and the air was unpleasantly thick and muggy. It cleared up and cooled down to quite a nice evening temperature, I thought

great news about the forthcoming few days, S_A - looks as tho' salymap was right all along
