It's raining in the pit heaps - please assume this is posted every morning until you hear otherwise i.e. when it snows..................

Early morning rain, now that's stopped and there's some weak sunshine.

However, gloom envelops it all ... I have a cold

And I, with a cold wet start to the weather, treated myself to some expensive braising steak from local butcher.

It is now glaringly sunny and kitchen is already about 80f. I want that meal but it's going to get to 90f with the oven on. As we are all moaning, that's mine for now.

Sorry about your pitheaps Anton and am51's cold

Mmmm braising steak, salymap - sounds good

Did you get enough steak to provide two meals? The second is often the better in my experience Hope you enjoy it however many meals you have

Have you ever considered getting a slow-cooker saly? Uses hardly any power and it won't heat your kitchen up. Agree with Ams, always cook double. I've got salmon this evening, got some lovely veggies too, choice of runners, little courgettes, tenderstem broccoli, so a bit healthier than my pizza last night!

No room for anything else Anna, used to have one years ago when at work.

As meat was nearly ÂŁ9 it willhave to do for severalmeals [about 3/4 kilo]. Butcher better than supermarket but the home made sausages are ÂŁ2 each, which was a shock. Lovely though.

OH how I agree with you both!

Supposed to be driving rain and wind here. What have we got: pleasant sunshine, blue sky with scudding white clouds

Oh well, just have to make the best of it. I want this weather during the working week when I have to cycle... At the weekends when one can stay in, it's definitely Sodom and Gomorrah one wants. Call me a contrarian. Have a crack at the Hitchcock collection, cook up some red meat like saly...

V sorry about your cold, Ammy, btw - how did that happen? Wish you better soon!

I seem to be snezing rather a lot at the moment - putting it down to high pollen levels, but it probably is an approaching cold. I have a theory that when the weather oscillates in this way, with temperatures varying widely in short spaces of time, our resistance to viruses etc is lowered. It's only my theory, backed up with personal experience.

Sunshine and feeling warmer than the actual temperature due to very high humidity. Those of you waiting for those forecast downpours who have spoken too soon shouldn't have long to wait now.

How right you were, S_A! Biblical downpour earlier, complete with thunder and lightning

I was in the car at the time, so missed getting a soaking - balmy sunshine and blue skies at either end of the journey. Quite surreal. Good though!

Torrential showers and thunder continuing! Good stuff!

A few short, sharp, showers, this am, rumbling thunder skirling around at 1pm which moved swiftly away and Met Office, after promising us Hell and Damnation at 4pm have revised forecast and we are to see a sunny end to the day and tomorrow, blue skies, nothing but blue skies, all day long! It's very windy, (WNW) which is all good, as it keeps the weather on the move.
