It's always sad to lose friends from the boards and I send best wishes to Mahlerei, who started this thread some time ago.

We can't afford to lose the small group of us who weathered the BBC storm and came through to the other side.

Ah! you mean the "Guest" description? I didn't know that was how it worked - that if one signs out, one's posts are so described thereafter.

I heard from mahlerei a few days ago. Sky is as energetic as ever and the buns are fine. He's very busy with his work (reviewing) and other things in his life right now take precedence so decided to give the MBs a miss although he does still look in now and then for a read, usually the Proms inquests. For the future - well who knows? I can't believe I started posted on the old R3 boards so long ago and am still here ........ we may see him back again, some time distant, who knows

Am and I don't seem to have correct details shown then. I started in 2007September I think but it gives the date of 2010 when these boards started.

My start date is March 2007 because this MB started 2007 and then went into hibernation until just before the demise of the old R3 boards, and of course your old BBC registration was not carried forward. I recall I joined the old BBC MBs around 2005, I am probably one of the few who remember Ludwig the Eco-Warrior and his cheese or string thread and his battle with Graeme Kaye!
On-topic. The BBC promised rain at 10am, the Met Office at 1pm. It is now a very half-hearted spit. Very disappointing when we were promised some sort of Armageddon and plagues of locusts.

... yes, I too get really disappointed when the forecast is for something severe - even unpleasant, but dramatic - and the reality turns out to be a damp squib. If they promise a monsoon I want a monsoon, not a feeble drizzle...

Be careful - remember the BBC weather forecast when someone said that listeners expected a hurricane, silly man,we certainly got twoin the end, albeit some years apart.
