As so often, an "aside" has taken on a life of its own. When Ammie mentioned his two matresses, I thought of the old story of the Princess and the Pea, which became more risqué when S_A turned "matress" into "mistress". Then sals remembered the Beverley sisters and then ...

Thunder and lightning here as I write. Oh dear; however, things don't look too bad over the next couple of weeks. Changeable and breezy, with rain on and off, but nothing torrential appearing on the cards, and temperatures rising back to more-or-less normal by Wednesday.

Amazing cloudburst (I would say rain but this was virtually unseeable through) and then sky black as pitch and then it veered off towards the North. Now bright sunshine and fluffy white clouds, quite cool and in fact jumper weather. Saly, are you not watching Olympics at all? Womens road race at the mo which I must catch up on. BBC4 tonight, two programmes about Kenneth Williams including repeat of Fantabulosa if you are fed up with sports.

As others have said, though, "Vertigo" is a great film. Amazing, even.
