Thanks, Ferneyhoughbeloved. Can't believe you, S_A needed to be enlightened as well.

Look, we only went to see Danny Kaye. The Beverley Sisters were a supporting act - always a bit err.racey.

If you had heard the rest of the song you wouldn't have needed an explanation, believe me

At some stage long ago I skipped racey and shocking the vicar's wife... which probably explained why.

Oooh, there's no answer to that, is there? Except, well he would say that, wouldn't he?
When Am's mattresses and peas were mentioned I initially assumed it was to do with the Marie Lloyd song "she sits among the cabbages and peas" then I find it is merely a joke about the sequence of words in the dictionary .....

I don't suppose there's anybody around to tell one how to hack into a PM. (Pity News of the World is no more!)

As so often, an "aside" has taken on a life of its own. When Ammie mentioned his two matresses, I thought of the old story of the Princess and the Pea, which became more risqué when S_A turned "matress" into "mistress". Then sals remembered the Beverley sisters and then ...

Funny weather here in the Pennines: hot and overcast with sudden bursts of solar enthusiasm: quite breezy, too - perfect drying weather!

Thunder and lightning here as I write. Oh dear; however, things don't look too bad over the next couple of weeks. Changeable and breezy, with rain on and off, but nothing torrential appearing on the cards, and temperatures rising back to more-or-less normal by Wednesday.

A little thunder and lightning here too S-A. I had a nice salad but feels more like a steak and kidney pud day.

Wish I'd put the big garden bin out earlier, tottery as Iam now.

Is there anything on TV except sports? Must have a look.

Amazing cloudburst (I would say rain but this was virtually unseeable through) and then sky black as pitch and then it veered off towards the North. Now bright sunshine and fluffy white clouds, quite cool and in fact jumper weather. Saly, are you not watching Olympics at all? Womens road race at the mo which I must catch up on. BBC4 tonight, two programmes about Kenneth Williams including repeat of Fantabulosa if you are fed up with sports.

... or, if y're fed up with sports, and don't fancy an evening with Kenneth Wms - then there is one of the best Hitchcocks - Vertigo - on ITV3 (press button #10 ) at 9pm ...

Frequently watched on DVD in Grotto Calibano.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                                More sports, I think.

As others have said, though, "Vertigo" is a great film. Amazing, even.

At work today. 65 minutes to go. Dry and overcast here.

PS - saly, sorry to hear about your bin. I, and I imagine everyone here, would move it for you if we could.
