And that's just the young ladies on Sat'day night!

Not only did I discard my waterproof, I sallied forth in only light cladding. But, the wind was still chill at 9am and I was glad to get back at half-ten for reviving coffee. It then clouded up, temperature dipped, looked like rain with black clouds building, and only around 4pm did it get warm and sunny enough to be here with back door open. Pretty airless though, no breeze now, but no complaints. And, Beethoven tonight on BBC4, Eroica is my favourite. So, all's well in the world.

Yes, sorry anton a lovely day, but I could cry when I look at the weeds on the flower beds. I pay to have grass ands hedges cutbut that's enough to pay for. one coz usually helps but she has not been able to this year.

Never mind, it looks fairly good from the kitchen window, which is my usual view of it.

Have the ducks returned? Silly question, salymap

Silly answer - not really - Lola returned very briefly on her own looking stressed, walloped back her food and drink and was off into the dark grey - since then nothing and no Leroy for weeks.

Glorious day here in NW2 within sound of the Metropolitan and Jubbly lines

I've just sprayed lots of Roundup on the convolvulus that's bedecking my rose and clematis in the hope of keep it under control if not killing it completely.

This sudden warmth is doing my joints a power of good - hope it's good for yours too, salymap

Sorry to hear about BBM's asthma problems - mine's been bad recently, fighting for breath occasionally but all going well at the mo

                        Hi all

To those here in the South, just a reminder to open all windows wide while outside temperatures are room-comfortable, and for those like me who can't abide stifling hot sleepless nights, tomorrow is probably the limit for internal ventilation purposes. Follow this advice, and from then on, you'll be relieved to come home to liveable temperatures, provided, of course, the heatwave doesn't last more than a few days. To those lucky enough to afford air-conditioning, the above obviously need not apply.

New England weather update: Friday was miserable with cold rain and wind. I had to go rummaging for sweaters and jeans that had been put away during the heatwave. Yesterday and today have been perfect 10s with plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and warm, bur not hot, temperatures. Am 51 and saly, my garden needs weeding! Am 51 I hope the Roundup does the trick with your convolvulus. I've got that nasty weed growing through any equally nasty clump of Rosa multiflora. Just don't kill your roses and clematis with drifting Roundup. The stuff is non-selective and blights or kills anything it lands on.

Lovely day here with a very pleasant breeze.

Wish Istill had the hammock my dad made for me years ago. The only problem is that it was slung between two big apple trees. One was cut down and it wouldn't be the same with one tree only

I first tried a hammock a couple of years ago - in the shade, warm climate, ocean breezes... Heaven!
