Just looked at the forecast for next week and they're promising, for London, 23 deg. Sunday, 26 Monday, 29 Tuesday, 32 Wednesday, 24 Thursday, 23 Friday. Thanks, marthe! (Though 32 will mean we can start to complain that it's too hot, and that the only thing you feel like doing is listening to L'apres-midi d'un faune)

Well, I don't know about elsewhere, but the official forecasters have messed up badly down here. Predicted this afternoon at lunchtime were heavy prolonged showers - none have materialised. All they needed to do was go up on the roof of the Met Office and observe the cloud cap (temperature inversion) forming at the time, instead of fiddling about on computers.

Still, one has to admit that they usually are right when bad weather's on the cards.

Yes, a lovely afternoon and evening... Do you think tomorrow might go the same way? Last time I heard, it was going to be even more showery tomorrow. I'm due to be going to various places on the bike and could well do without showers or worse!!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Yes I'm afraid we probably are more likely to get rain tomorrow as the front sweeps back south again. But following that, it should be dry for a week - in the south, at any rate.

Well the weather gods have been kind to me today. A drizzly early morning had turned to sunshine by the time I set out, and I've been able to pedal pleasantly up to the wilds of NW6, back down via the West End to end up at work, without a spot of rain. Some slight satisfaction to feel the first drop as I exited the sandwich shop with my lunch, and to be sitting at my desk just now munching and Forumming to see a sudden deluge outside...

Now I just have to get home without a soaking.... (Not that I mind - if drenched, everything in the machine... and the hot shower is doubly pleasant)

So in a nutshell: can't complain

Nah... quite fancy a pint of Spitfire actually (as the 'Shepherd Neame' sign winks at me from across Farringdon Street affixed to the spiffing little Hoop and Grapes http://www.thehoopandgrapes.co.uk/ - winners of the 2011 'Perfect Pint of the Year' award - and they've even got Hook Norton's 'Old Hooky' guesting at the moment In fact, why am I sitting here?! )

Is it only here 'midst the pit heaps that the sun, yes the sun! - is shining from a clear blue sky and cardigans are coming off?

Whereas here, in the SE the sun is shining but big white fluffy clouds are gathering and cardigans are staying on, in this house anyway. Bestio, as our founder [Mahlerei} says.
