The person I often worry about {sorry HS, am going off topic] is Sigolene someone. She just disappeared aftersaying she was going out on her yacht one day.

I'll let you know if I spot Cavatina at any of the Cadogan Hall chamber proms I intend attending.

Thanks you mangerton yes it arrived at 8.45 amazingly enough. however it's only just working as I had to ask neighbour to remove foam blocks from around the compressor, which I couldn't get to.

Dates are tricky tho', innit? 'cos if there were a truth that weather on 15 July was a good predictor, that date (15 July, translation of St Swithun) was before we lost all those days when we changed the calendar in 1752 ("Give us back the eleven days we was robbed of!!"). So probably we should wait until 26 July to see whether the weather is going to change...

But to make things more confusing, St Swithun was buried on 2 Jul; a St Albans calendar of 1149 still marks 2 July as his Feast day, and in continental Europe 2 July is still St Swithun's day - Stavanger cathedral is dedicated to him, where it is said -

"Syftesokdag
Setter skyen i lag,
det varer til olsokdag."

good to read that you finally got your new freezer salymap! with any luck you may need to store large quantities of ice cream & ice cubes in it, the weather will be so hot and sunny. (fingers crossed)

incredibly, it managed not to rain today. (just as well as there's a lake at the bottom of my garden). figs are falling off the tree...think it's the sheer extra weight of the mildew.

It rained here - only a few spots, but I think enough to satisfy St Swithin. It was probably the fact that I washed my car that annoyed him.

The odd shower here today, but just pleased that it kept off,largely, yesterday, and our village show went ahead successfully.
