This is a thank you [not that they will read it ] to the little general or 'convenience stores'
that dot the towns and villages around here. I bought some bread, ham, tomatoes, MILK [risky] and a tin of sausages with mixed veg. I shan't starve at least for today.

Remember if you have old or disabled neighbours in these awful conditions - but I am sure you do.
    Good points, salymap

I'm a lot more mobile than you are but I must say I was very pleased to have had a prescient moment on Thursday when I was shopping & stocked up on some Cup-A-Soups, parsley sauce mix (what a boon if you find you have just veggies in the cupboard) and wholemeal bread.

Good luck to all who are experiencing the worst of this rotten summer - London's just soggy but no floods ... as yet

Morning ams and others. What's happened to marthe from RI? I hope she isn't affected by the awful weather the US is also experiencing.
I THOUGHT today was going to be better here. Large puddles still around and getting very dark though. Cousin in Devon has had really bad flooding though.

      What's the outlook S_A ?

In saw the jetstream has gone really crazy. Instead of being just the north of Scotland, it has gone into an 'L' shape. Like souuthwards, down in between Ireland and UK and down to thje , what i call, the second 'layer' of countries in Africa

All hail! She reigns supreme. Sunny temperament.

                  I knew her sister Gale.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                        ... chortle chortle

There was a pianist on the Open University called Ivor Keys. Why his parents didn't give him a middle name like Yves I can't imagine

.... and another fave: the Chichester Cathedral architect and sometime Surveyor Emeritus to Westminster Abbey, Donald Buttress...

Friend of my folks in Nottingham, the name amused me no end when I was little. Lovely bloke. Saw things very black and white...

Since you mention such names - years ago Kent County Council Educztion Dept had an official called Constant Ponder, and I knew of an organist called Loudon Merry.

                            Well,I didn't start this............
