Especially not a pub. It would go bust in about five minutes flat. We don't have many pubs named after Dukes and Marquises either. OTOH, there is one called "The Doctor's" ("Eh.... I'm just away to The Doctor's") and there was once a pub in Glasgow called "The Muscular Arms".

& then there's the 'Sarry Heid', more formally known as 'The Saracen's Head'; & when the Beresford Hotel in Sauchiehall St (a distinctive Art Deco building) was used as student accommodation it had a bar called 'The Library', on the same basis as Mangerton's 'The Doctor's'.

All of which, of course, has nothing to do with the weather, which brightened up towards the end of the afternoon, & we are now enjoying a late twilight with clear skies.

Back to pubs - I've just remembered that there is a 'Moray Arms' just up the road from me, named after the Earl of Moray, Mary's Regent.

Oh yes: Exam time! I'd been wondering why the sun had decided to make an appearance! Expect glorious weather until the end of June!

Just a few flat cumulus, wind north-north-west gentle breeze, temperature 12 C, atmosphere clear as a bell. Just ckecked the garden - can't believe how fast the growth has been in just two days! One large buddleia bush we'd assumed well-and-truly dead, having been hit by a mystery fungus last summer, is showing a few shoots from amid the mass of dead wood. Just goes to show one shouldn't be in too much of a hurry before writing plants off - a potentially serious mistake when it comes to shrubs.

Flosshilde,that brings back memories.I was in that pub very briefly on the 20th May 1978.
How do I know?, well I was at the Scotland v England home international football match (remember them?) on that day.
A friend and I travelled up and found ourselves wandering in there.
My friend was wearing an England scarf (you can probably guess the rest) and to cut a long story very short we were 'asked to leave', which we gladly did.

Anyway it's a lovely sunny day in Cheshire.

I've just applied a generous dollop of ibuprofen gel to each buttock but I guess that may well be too much information

I've tried DeepHeat cream but it hasn't had much effect so far.It's not catching over the Internet is it ams? Thanks for the Walton [in another place] Think I was there in 1957.

It's really good to see Sargent in action - there's not much film left of him and he really was an elegant performer
