Trust the RSPB to get its priorities wrong

Must check out the possibilities of English asparagus & Jersey Royals today, if I can arrange the security transport to get them home

Is it just me or have Jersey Royals lost their distinctive taste? They seem not to use Vraic (the seaweed) anymore and a lot are grown in polytunnels and they haven't been worth shelling out the extra for. There's an asparagus farm not far away who also produce white asparagus (evidently the subject of special festivals in Germany) and a purple asparagus.
On topic, perishing cold wind today

6 degrees Centigrade when I checked my thermometer. Must be one of the lowest noon temperatures for May I have ever recorded. Steady light-moderate rain, with the brighter skies to the NW always out of reach. And just to cheer myself up even more, Boris got back in!

Lovely, vindepays! I love tracking derivations like that!!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sunshine all day (so far) in this part of the Pennines; but perishing cold.

But other signs of Spring (!): the Dandelions are in full flower! They are a lovely plant to see in the wild; just as they are horrendous to tackle in the garden!

A fledgling Robin being fed on my windowsill this morning before tottering off à la Woodstock into the hedging.
A family of Swallows in the eves of a neighbour's house chirrupping away.

                      Good things!

Some government-employed geek must've worked out the equation, differentiating, nationwide, the amount of water table absorption obtainable from summer of steady rain, from that from the existing number of leakages ending up in the Atlantic, actual, predicted and guesstimated.

"Black Dyke Band" headline might be feared to cause instant PC apoplexy?
