Big black clouds already, over Will's mother's, as my dad used to say. I thought he was talking about a cousin Will, apparently it originally referred to Shakespeare.???

yes S-A please pass on respects from the bored to Mr Marsh [if that is the funeral you are attending ]

... what is your view on the gales of controversy surrounding the forecast of the coldest May since records began etc ...
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Well tbh I don't know, Calum. There's a broad northerly airstream coming on Tuesday, but I think it's much too early to predict for May.

The last time we had snow across the country for the entire first week of May, (in the form of showers), was in 1979 - and we all know what that heralded!

We had a lovely sunny if quite nippy morning here and then about 20 minutes ago, as forecast, the sky clouded over, the wind picked up, the temperature plummeted and now it's beginning to rain

Fine now, rain due at noon precisely, will continue all day.

After a Barbican concert recently we retired as is our custom to the nearby Artillery Arms for a pint of ambrosia (aka Fullers ESB). A lone man entered the pub at about 10.45, bought half a pint and sat down at the next table. He retrieved a copy of the Camra Guide rucksack and inserted a tick against the pub. I said "Cheers" and he returned the salutation. After about another minute and a half, having downed his ale, he got up and left.
