Glorious morning in the m'trollopes today, blissful cycle ride in through falling blossom, wind and sun had dried all but the deepest puddles

Now though, a black sky and diagonal sheets of rain (UPDATE: big clap of thunder.... )

Hope it clears up for a gentle pedal westwards towards the weekend later

If you're looking for the return of dry weather, it doesn't look good, I have to say, calipers. Another deep low is due to move in across the south on Monday, with its associated high winds and driving rain, and then another to follow on Tuesday into Wednesday. Hard to see beyond that at the moment.

April is not normally associated with thunderstorms in Britain, but at the present rate I'm wondering if some kind of record is being set.

When I was buying my BBC Music Mag and Gramophone at the newsagents the other day, my eye caught the headline of some trashy rag or other - 'COLDEST MAY FOR 100 YEARS'. That's the coming May, presumably, because every May recently seems to have been the coldest for 100 years. Mind you, since they usually make a hash of tomorrow's forecast, let's look on the bright side ...

I did a little extra work and lo and behold, half an hour later the clouds had cleared and I cycled home under blue skies and with pleasant evening sunshine

Actually missed nearly all TV,switched on briefly and saw 10 minutes of antique experts hamming it up and switched off again.
I'm beginning to wonder why I bothered to update my TV. Roll on Wimbledon and the Proms.Forgot brass final.

The showers kept away from this district, though they were all around. Today, with temperatures 2-3 degs up and cloud convection much more pronounced than yesterday, I predict greater likelihood of more widespread showers, along with the obligatory hail and thunder.

Tomorrow is definitely stay indoors weather from Cornwall up to about Lancashire/Yorkshire, when they'll get it by evening as well, unless you have to go out. Unfortunately I have a funeral to attend.
