I've been in the west for the last few days, and haven't seen the sun once. There's been no rain, and it's been mild, but 100% cloud cover and unremitting depressing greyness.

Back home in Dundee and it's just the same. I wonder if Edinburgh will be any better tomorrow.

It's been a really shivery day here for me. Feel Ishouldn't have the heating on but cold without it.
A doctor told me once that people often feel depressed or 'low' at this time of year as it's so long since we had warm sun to give us vit D etc.

We had bright sun and warmish temps today after the fog burned off this morning. I got a good dose of vitamin D this afternoon while working in the garden so I'm sending some vit. D your way, saly! I do know what you mean about needing the heat on when it's shivery. We've had a few days like that recently when there's been no sun but the air has been damp and chilly. It is depressing.

Thanks for that marthe. I have vitamen D tablets but usually forget them. Anyway the big lawn has had its first cut of the season but will need another soon, grass is so lumpy and long. Must get the bench out soon. I used to have sun-loungers but fear, at my age, I would need help to get out of one.
Thick damp mist/fog at the moment.

The sun is trying to come out here. After a brilliant and sunny day yesterday, we've had a very cloudy start today. I have to run a few errands and make sure the fridge is stocked up. We'll be collecting our son from the airport in Providence, RI in about 5 1/2 hours! I hope the sun burns through the fog in your area saly!

Same here saly, all day, damp dismal and dreary and depressing and cold! Early hours of this morning it was only slightly above freezing. Magnolia trees are shortly to burst into bloom, if they get frosted the petals look just like dirty rags

The sun has been out this afternnoon Anna, but not very warm. ''Next door' have a beautiful Camellia, full of dark red flowers, out at the moment in the front garden near the low wall so I get the advantage of it.
It faces north so should be okay. It was the morning sun in the back that killed off the only one I tried to grow. marthe hope it warms up for you and you enjoy your son's visit.

One of those nothing sort of days, brightened up by a singing gig this afternoon to an appreciative audience.

After a week of unremitting greyness, and rain yesterday, I am pleased to be able to report that the sun is shining brightly here this morning..........

............Just in time for my return to work on Monday!

The sun is just coming out now during the last act of Mussorgsky's Kovanshchina being broadcast live from NY. Earlier this afternoon I went into town for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade which marks the unofficial end of winter here. Happiness reigns here also because of the desired rugby result. Local Irish pub broadcast the England-Ireland match live right after the parade finished. The place was a zoo so I went home to listen to opera instead. Yesterday, despite gloomy weather, I spent an enjoyable afternoon with my son while driving him around to see some of his favorite places. He took me out lunch too!

Sounds as though a lot is going on in RI marthe. How much longer will your son be there? Enjoy. Drizzly and cold here but it can only get better, fingers crossed.
