The link to the lighthouse IS "astonishing". We have been showing it to friends who drop by. It is gorgeous to see the waves come upon the Ohio lighthouse; adding the next layer of ice to the fantastical sculpture.

This is one of those moments that I love of the internet that we can share with one another.

Some of the heaviest snow I've ever witnessed, right now as I write here in S Dulwich - visibility down to about 100 yards; settling very fast at Minus 3 C. No grit on roads and not one gritter in sight!

Suddenly started to snow very hard here in Kent. The wind is blowing it about. Fortunately we've just stocked the larder so ready for anything :)

Oh well, that sounds like my usual life, aka Calum. I'm waiting for someone who is supposed to be visiting me by bus, bringing inthe staple diet at the moment, fish and chips, no visitor no f/c, no answer to mobile.

stay warm salymap! looking at the weather reports and forecasts it would appear that the middle kingdom is in the eye of the storm, no snow just cold etc, ah well the nation cut off as they said about something nasty in the channel once ...

Not a flake of snow around Chichester yet, although the forecast for tomorrow is pretty dire. Typically, today is a day off, whereas tomorrow I have to cycle in to work!!

I awoke last night at about 3:30 and it was the most crystal clear sky, the stars were so bright it was like being in a planetarium. Really wonderful. I just stood and gazed for a while.

We don't have any street lights around this part of Chichester harbour, so luckily I was able to enjoy the spectacle relatively unspoiled by light pollution. One of my neighbours is a keen amateur astronomer, and moved here specifically for that reason. He has built himself a small observatory at the bottom of the garden. On a night like last night, I wish I had one myself.

Ah, fish and chips, saly. Yummy. I just had some on my way home from my Friday painting session. I pushed the boat out (well, not literally) and ate haddock to help preserve the cod stocks. Being out I missed the sun in my back garden so do not know when I can photo my new pictures. We have had a few flurries of snow which gathered in depressions and the edges of roof tiles but no blizzards yet. Stay warm, everyone. bws, Chris.

Mr Pee, my old singing teacher has an observatory near Chichester harbour as, of course, does his neighbour of "Sky at Night" fame.

Yes, fish and chips (known in this part of the world as a "fish supper") are delicious. We're fortunate around here in having some excellent f & c shops. Haddock is of course Scotland's fish of choice. Oh, and we remove the skin before the batter is applied.

Do you similarly take the wrapper off the Mars bar before battering and deep-frying it?

My f &C didn't arrive because coz couldn't make it, due to snow storm. So I found three fish fingers in the freezer and they were, well, fish fingers. Never mind. I opened some Xmas present chocs to cheer myself up.
Obviously my standards are slipping. Keep warm and safe everyone.
