Everyone says it is warm but we have never lost the very high winds here S-A. Can you explain why we are so badly treated. Seems to be coming from the North.

Not posh enough for bankers I would think. They are more likely to be in Orpington or Chislehurst.nearby.

saly, it's been windy here (but from SW which have died down now) which had a bit of an edge to it but we still got up to 15 degrees just after lunch. Wouldn't be surprised if the lawnmowers made an appearance tomorrow!

bumper catch but bum prices eh .... always the catch ...... [groan]
Lovely wintery mix here just to remind us that it's still February. As for lobster, everyone and his uncle was selling Lobster Rolls last summer. Lobster Roll is a New England seacoast favorite consisting of minced lobster meat mixed with mayonnaise and traditionally served in a hot dog bun with, ahem, French Fries (sorry, chips) on the side. I'm a big fan of lobster, or lobstah, as they say here, but my husband thinks it's overrated. My grandmother always served Lobster Newburg as a company dish whenever rels from overseas came to visit.

I have found some burger buns in the freezer marthe, don't have beefburgers or lobster, chopped up sausages will have to do. You seem to have an interesting diet in RI. best wishes, saly

saly, the chopped up sausages sound quite good! Though we have have lobster in abundance here in New England, we can't easily get good English bangers. Whenever we can get hold of them, we'll stock up and put a few packs by in the freezer. Bangers and Mash are a favorite comfort food chez m. Traditional New England cuisine is made up of either seafood or stodgy stuff such as boiled dinner (something I've disliked since childhood), baked beans and brown bread (a Puritan favorite because they could make it a ahead of the sabbath and have something to eat after sabbath-day meeting), Indian Pudding, fruit pies of various kinds.

Todays weather report: sunny, windy and very much like March weather! The wind is quite brisk and from the NW making it rather chilly outside despite the sun. All traces of yesterday's snow are gone. More and more bulbs are flowering in the garden and the hellebore are beginning to bloom. Inside, my mammalaria cactus is also in bloom putting on a show of magenta flowers.

Wow, marthe! Says in my Observer's Book of Cacti that Opuntia Mammalaria rarely if ever flower.

S-A: I'm wondering if mine's a different kind. My one cactus and succulent book lists mine as Mammallaria spinosissimawith a common name of "Red-Headed Irishman". This one is a prolific late-winter bloomer and is very spiny hence the spinosissima! Mine is now 9 years old and has many tubular protuberances that are ringed with magenta flowers. It sits in a shallow pot that has a counter balance of beach stones so that it doesn't topple to the floor. Its spines can be quite painful if they work their way into ones fingers. I use rose gloves when handling it!

What the hell is it, marthe ?!

                                Sounds eminently dislikeable!!
"...the isle is full of noises,
