Mornin' all. Yes a nasty mess Mahlerei. Cars driving too fast locally. Some nasty junctions that can cause trouble. Just looked out of back door. About a couple or three inches and wet stuff still falling.

Shall not venture out today, although wish I could clear ice out of the bird bath.

She must merge completely into the snow! I had a cat who loved to chase snowflakes. Snow more or less disappeared here, but road looks treacherous, luckily I have no need to venture out today and I don't think any more is forecast

We have friends in the Wigan area(well more or less family!), and they had snow! Around 4"!!

Murrayfield looked awash with the white stuff!!

Several inches of snow here. A trudge through uncleared pavements in my trusty wellingtons (great grip) to the local Co-op this morning.

Although not the wamest of footwear wellies really can't be beaten for grip. I had terrible difficulty in December buying a new pair of leather shoes or boots with any sensible tread and ended up spending too much money on a pair I'm actually now disappointed with and am resorting to my battered old hiking boots.

I've had my current pair of wellies for over 25 years and in snow and ice nothing grips better. To combat the cold feet problem I got a size too large and put on an extra pair of thick socks. Works a treat!

I threw out all my boots a year or two ago as they are so difficult to pull on with my back trouble. Now I really need a pair I can't get to the shops, so will have to decide what to do.. We may not have weather like this for ages, says she hopefully.

It does look like it's going to be a slow thaw right through this week. What a couple of days! The zipper on the one decent coat for these kinds of temperature gave up as I was about to leave to do my weekly grocery shop yesterday; had a helluva job getting it off, and the only alternative was a skimpy old raincoat. Today I awoke to a violent cold. While out shovelling snow away from the path here - I'm the only one who knows where the salt and sand is stored - I dropped my main bunch of house keys. Now I shall be worrying until they re-appear. Lesson? Make sure keys are put in a deep pocket! Anything dropped in snow disappears completely.

Yes good luck S-A. Anything to do with keys worries me. Would a metal detector be any good around where you lost them.? I've never got over locking myself out last year.

Just as well I'd left the front door open, eh saly?.... and had a spare set inside!

+3C here Wilts at the moment - all snow gone. I just checked Leipzig for my wife (her home town): daytime -8 going down to -17 tonight, which puts things into perspective.
