Mahlerei, Your uncle can shovel my driveway anytime! I'd say hardy indeed!

Within the same one minute....Sky Mother of Pearl pink to silver, slate grey, cottonwool white, a twisted wine colour, battle ship grey....the marsh grass the colour of a spikey blonde haired child in summer, mud black, walls creeping through a variety of greens....a black and white dog, a marmalade and cream lurcher....two Rowan trees perfect Chinese brushes....bracken beaten into submission again....sun picks through clouds picking out mosses and grey white rocks....two gulls sparkling white against charcoal sky....a those white light streaks of birch strike the ground....

Sorry to hear about the asthma, BBM. We have it in the family as well, and it's a scary thing.

Feels like the inside of a cistern here this morning.

I seem to get a really bad boiut of it every 4 or 5 years. And just so happens to be now! After a dose of steroids, seems to have cleared it up! Thank you all for the best wishes!

Don't know if this is pertinent, BBM but I take an inhalable steroid each day as a 'preventer' (GP's description). Not had a major 'do' since I've been using it

Very best wishes that your recovery persists!

                      Ah, everything is explained!

Seriously, though, I hadn't realised that you were an asthma sufferer, Ams.

Back to the meteorrrrolululogical situation, interesting to note just now that areas around Guildford and Woking were experiencing quite heavy rain first thing this morning... at minus 3 Celsius - which can cause serious ice conditions. This occurs when falling snow encounters a layer of higher than freezing temperatures some few thousands of feet thick, located above persisting sub-freezing temperatures at ground level, and happens when warm air approaches aloft, usually heralding an airmass change. That's what's taking place right now, so no more problems of that sort here for a while.

Seems bright but very wet underfoot here. Where is our MB forecast for today?

Morning, saly and all. Rather cloudy here again. The wind seems less troublesome than of late.

Give us a chance, saly! - I stayed up late last night for the Ken Russell film on Delius.

Anyways, the official forecast looks about right: rain after midnight tonight lasting until Breakfast (sic) time, followed by shattered scours (as me mum used to say) and back to normal temperatures.

Beyond Saturday it looks more interesting, and the forecasters aren't willing to prognosticate... OR look ahead!!! A "High" is due to form over SW Norway, either slowing or blocking incoming depresssions - which means we could be in for a spell of colder, dry weather from Sunday onwards.

                            Watch this space-invader!
