This underfed looking young lady looks as though Butterworth wouldn't melt on her record player; let alone rhubarb in her fool:

I see the weather going to be colkder towards the end of the week.

There seems to be a distict analogy between the row of little shops not far from me and the three main political parties in England. It is divided into three sections and over as many Christmas holidays as I can remember, there has never been agreement over the switching on and off of the lights decorating the faux 'gables' of the facade. The left hand section still hasn't caught up with 12th night and the lights are on as I speak. It seems odd, especially with the cost of electricity.

Morning saly and all: real shepherd's warning today in the southern sky. Beautiful red streaks - best dawn for ages. With meteorological foresight I think the shepherds have a problem.

Greenilex. Hope shepherds have taken cover. Very threatening sky overhead now.

Stormy weather here, wind and rain but no snow.

I'm a lucky fellow then - I had to get aboard the bike much earlier than usual and was cycling through Hyde Park just as dawn was at its colourful best. I thought it was always like that!

To make it even nicer, I was cycling for part of the time alongside a wonderful 1930s dark green 3 1/2 litre racing Bentley whose owner was obviously enjoying taking it for a spin at dawn. Plus a great Vernon Handley performance of Coates's 'Dambusters' march came on the radio. I felt like a happy time-traveller and very British - it took the edge off the early start!!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

... thanks, serial: your message made me rush from my east-facing window where I normally sit to look out of west-facing windows, to capture the last stages. Gorgeous pink contrails...

Beautiful here as well, palest azure with clouds streaked pink and gold, the gold now becoming deeper. Not a breath of wind. Can look at changing sunsets like this for as long as they last (nice to have such a light evening as well)
Edit: Did anyone see the beautiful full moon on Monday, it was pretty spectacular as it slowly appeared from behind the hill. I must get my Brian Cox stargazer chart out tonight!

A most poetic post, Calibs - many thanks

Was the Bentley going "wobble-wobble-wobble" through her huge exhausts?
