Right overhead at about 4-4.30 - I'm about 12 miles east of you, greenilex: terrific claps of thunder and torrential rain, as hard a downpour as I've ever experienced in Hampshire. Climate change....

The Wiltshire/Hampshire Avon was only about six inches deep last week and is now getting back to normal.

Feel like the weather today, anyway another Nov 5th nearly out of the way. The noises haven't started yet. can't get that awful accident in Somerset off my mind. Sorry, must get on as someone popping in soon.

I only just read about this on the BBC website. My thought and prayers for those affected. Sobering news to read after having just come back from seeing many friends at a bonfire party.

Very nippy this morning, with no warming sunshine. Fireworks weren't too intrusive last night.

...in the middle kingdom the fireworks were an unending pestilence and it is very nippy today but we do have a blue sky and bright sun this morning ....

my near neighbours can't be suffering any financial constraints, since on Friday evening, for a period of about 15 minutes, fireworks from their garden went off continuously, without a second's break - must have been hundreds of pounds worth, pretty spectacular and so loud I had no choice but to watch and wait.

I hope that Sky coped with her first bonfire night, Mahlerei - not a good time for our animal companions

i must live up to my tag as a 'dreary misanthropist' and say I'd be happy if I never saw/heard another firework.

Sky wasn't at all fazed by the racket, which didn't last as long as it usually does. She loves the cold weather and digging in the garden. Cue lots of muddy paw prints, but at least we have wooden floors that can be cleaned. Huskies must have something in their coats because she dries off almost instantly. I imagine that would be useful in Siberian weather.

Me too mahlerei, Perhaps it's because we were 'bombed out' that week when I was ten and I always associate fireworks with the blitz. [Basil Fawlty "Don't mention the war"] Sorry

                              Excellent news, Mahlerei

Is it you or your son going for a daily drag or several with her now as the weather gets colder and wetter?

Bone of contention, that. My son was allowed to have the pooch on the strict understanding he walked her every day. He's been pretty good, but is less enthusiastic now that the weather's changed. As I don't live at the house - complicated story - I don't get to walk her much.
