The worst crossing I have ever experienced was from Malta to Sicily in a hydrofoil - it was not operating as such, of course - just a badly-shaped flat-bottomed skillet, really. I think that bit is quite deep....

Nice this morning, much less windy here.

Yes Marthe....beautiful full moon here too, with clouds rapidly cossing in front of it....the wet fields gistening, like a million diamond, the trees branches turning themselves inside out, like a dog trying to catch a rabbit, tremendous sound of tonnes of wood and leaves whipping and turning....such are the joys of having a dog, and late night walking....{dogs with lcd flashing red lights on them, myself walking by moonlight, and I know the way through the woods so well}....Around here we have a group of walkers called the Moon-Rakers, who walk the tops on the full moon....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonrakers

8th obstruction The reverse side of people who have climbed the Malvern Hills for breakfast on the Beacon early on Midsummer's Day, as I did once. It was great fun, couldn't do it now though.

Another balmy September day here. Eigth, I love your description of the moonlit walk with the dog. The full moon always lures me out for an evening stroll. My most dramatic moon moment occured while watching the clouds part to reveal a fully-eclipsed moon while listening to the Last Night of the Proms on my little tranny somewhere in the wilds of deepest Staffs. near the River Trent. The clouds parted just as the band launched into "Land of Hope and Glory" lol. This was back around 1978.

                  Calum: those bad boys!

yep the autumnal nip is on us in the middle kingdom ... looking forward to the foliage this autumn .... the woods by the water have been a kaleidoscopic greenness this summer ...

Just bin upt moor this aft....blaa blaa wonderful description of clouds etc....but saw this kestrel being mobbed [possibly singular i.e. one crow : mibbed] by a crow tremendous carry on , with the kestrel fighting back. Then out of nowhere [well actually somewhere] a second kestrel stooped down and rattled the crows plumage. WOW.... very windy too, so they were covering a lot of territory....

Was going to go on about last nights moon-lit walk....moon so bright it shone through the cloud, beck like dull mercury....silhouettes of leaves beating a tatoo in the breeze....but i expect you have had enough of that....

Yes a real feel of autumn now. Condensation on kitchen window, Quite cold in the night when I got up for my essential cup of tea. All the tablets taken the day before give me a dry mouth and only tea will do.

Last days of the County Championship [cricket]....

....yes, I was right....mist in the foot of the beck and around trees....If I had time to go up on Eller Carr there would be an inversion....looking down on the mist from on high onto islands of landscape....coat, scarf, gloves....
