      Ah Pillow Talk, yes

Just like Autumn here today, back to topic. Does anyone remember the two week Winter Proms? A wonder they don't bring them back in January. They never really caught on I guess.

er well the hollyhocks just grew themselves to twelve feet, definitely a triffid feeling about the yard .... speaking of lines a good couple of drying days [travelling = lots of laundry innit]

Summer? What summer? My pile of logs is still going down here in Kent. And it's raining now. No drying on the line.

Hello Doversoul. yes even in the London end of Kent there is a biting wind every day and it only gets really warm in the evening. I too put my heating on earlier today and returned to a jumper instead of a blouse.

while we are all bemused by the noxious murdoch and the equivocal uk weather a serious drought is cooking in the southern USA

Yes I know calum but we naturally cope with our own problems first don't we? Murdoch I leave to the politicians and whoever is effected, the USA I do care about as I have family there, not in the South though.

Weather everywhere seems unpredictable these days. I am haunted by that mudslide that engulfed a school in Malaysia recently. A nightmare surely.

Just seen the long range forecast and its another miserable wet and cold August on the cards, the 8th in succession and that'll make it the 5th miserable summer in a row. Global warming really???

I think, the global warming lobby would call this "weather" not "climate" and point to retreating glaciers. It is difficult for a layman to know what to believe.

The trend that the climate scientists were predicting for the southern half of the country was for summer to become increasingly warm and dry, instead the last four July and Augusts have been cooler and wetter and this year looks the same. Though May and June had slightly above temperatures in my neck of the woods, so far this month temperatures are averaging over nearly 3 degrees below average and we had heading for well above average rainfall. I think the Solar Cycle has a far greater impact than anything man does, we've had a very long solar minimum and the current sunspot cycle is still rather underpowered at present. Mind you if it does suddenly liven up and throw an X10+ class flare and CME in our direction then it's possibly goodbye to the internet and all online services, satellite and digital TV etc for a number of years.
