Morning marthe, Glad it went well apart from the rain. I have heard about the heat wave but not quite here yet. If only this brisk wind, practically gale force yesterday, would abate. I have the sort of hair that windy days play havoc with and I must give up my wooly hat as it's June, for goodness sake. Still thin sweater/jumper weather to me too but the young seem to think it warm. Very odd, being old.

There was a spell of Stormy Weather in Dundee yesterday afternoon, featuring lightning, thunder, and hail. Details here:

My uncle in Montana says he's never known so much rain. I believe South Dakota is under water as well.

Yes! I live less than a mile from where that picture was taken. I stood at my window and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I live on a hill, and the road was like a river. I saw a plastic litter bin floating downhill, much to the consternation of motorists. Lovely day here today, but it won't last, as I've spent the morning cleaning Miss mangerton's windows. A great way to spend the last day of one's holiday.

TV is now showing a shot of lots of covered tennis courts accompanied by the pitter, patter of rain. Help, must put it off and do something useful. It could only happen here surely.

Mahlerei, did I see a picture in the BBC Day-in-Pictures of a plastic moose floating down a flooded street in S. Dakota? No floods here but days of damp, drizzly, cool weather punctuated by the occasional downpour. The grass has never been greener! I'm afraid we'll pay for all this by having very hot and humid "dog days" in July and August. Might be a welcome change! I'm still wearing my heavy woolen sweater in late June nor have I changed out the woolen winter blankets for the cotton summer blankets.

Schloss Mahlerei has a new addition, a gorgeous 20-week-old husky, one eye brown the other ice blue. She has a lovely temperament but is still a bit nervous in strange surroundings. Will post a pic for pooch-fanciers soon.

I believe that's called wall eye (not to be confused with strabismus in humans). Looking forward to a pic of new Schloss Mahlerei addition. Name? Wha'ever - Congratulations

30 degrees in East Anglia - Mediterranean blue sky.
                            Too hot for a cassock.

Nasty weather in Glasgow - grey, occasional rain, humid, not warm & not cold.
