It rained all night and it's rained all day, plus high winds and decidedly chilly, under 10 degrees (49) so I just curled up and watched an episode of Morse followed by Midsomer Murders. How do so many people in such a small place get constantly murdered? Finally heavy rain has given way to drizzle.

Have a lovely holiday, mangerton! Shropshire is my favourite county - along with Kent. If you are staying in the vicinity, if you haven't already done it, I strongly recommend a drive along the B4371, south-west from Much Wenlock, along the top of the Wenlock Edge escarpment, on a clear day affording spectacular views to the Welsh mountains to the west and across the Midland plain to the east, and on to Church Stretton. Imagine yourself into the mind of Vaughan Williams composing his song cycle of that name to AE Housman's poems - even though VW had never visited the place when he composed it!

Another uncertain day that doesn't know whether it's March or July. Shall have to get used to it. At least Wimbledon has one roof if not more. With no Freeview at the moment this year will be different, at least here.

S_A, I drove along Wenlock Edge late this afternoon, stopping to admire the view. The sun was out, and it was a lovely drive and a great experience. Thank you very much for suggesting it.
