Maximum 11C on the menu for us.
A friend from Sacramento is visiting us next week: have told him to bring his winter parka with him.
Though Canadian by birth, and used to their harsh winters, he always finds the UK cold!
Too bad, as it was gloriously warm not that long ago, and it'll be his first ever visit to York.

You could forewarn him he'll be experiencing a bold Yorker, then! There's official talk of pretty cold conditions spreading south to reach us here by Tuesday morning. This could well mean precipitation, following virtual drought for several weeks now - but some of that could even be in the form of snow, and not just high up!

As the namer of a street in Bristol exclaimed: "Great George Street!" - because he couldn't remember the name Scott.

Got drenched cycling back from a successful second abdominal aortic aneurism scan (the previous one showed a normal result, 1.8 cm, but the file would not upload to the system so I had to go for a repeat!) this morning.
Mind you, I'm not really complaining, as the gardens need the rain.

Gosh: that must have been a relief, even though a soaking one!

Well, it would have been a great shock if today's reading had been 3 cm, that's for sure!
And I stayed long enough to make sure that the file had uploaded to their laptop this time!

I'm impressed with the NHS for arranging these scans and for sending out the bowel cancer test kits too. At least bits of it seem joined up!

18 C in our living room at the moment but the sun is out and I'm resisting putting the heating back on, hoping for a bit of greenhouse effect.

I've left mine of for the time being, so that whenever the inside temperature falls below 19 C it turns on automatically - which has been happening quite a lot over the past few days. I seem to feel the cold at higher temperatures more then before, now that I'm past 70.

Beautifully sunny and clear here in London so far, with flat cumulus in flotillas, and excellent visibility - for a change this year! Can't see any chance of the "wintry showers" forecast. Might wrap up well and take a brisk walk this afternoon.
