We had snow yesterday morning here in the Pennines - about a centimetre thick and looking lovely as I opened the curtains, really setting the day off in a good mood.

Then I put the news on ...

Rain overnight cleared it all away, and temperatures have lifted from 1 - 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday to 6 today; and lots of lovely sunshine so far today.

Peerless November day oop 'ere. Brilliant light, faded colours, gaunt and exhausted trees after a battering, and the short town Remembrance ceremony outside.

The temperature has just now reached a pretty remarkable 16 degrees Celsius here, with the sun doing its best to break through a couple of cloud layers. That's 5 degs. C above the mid-November normal - not a record, but the equivalent in July would be baking hot! I've decided to cycle the 6-odd miles over to Cadogan Hall for some afternoon jazz, a free-entry gig as part of the London Jazz Festival, and I think for the first time I can remember for November, I shan't be needing the cape on, just carrying it in the back pack as "insurance" against it raining.

Seems quite incredible weather this year. Saw a news item that this year has broken records of last, globally.

I think they were saying that six out of the last ten years had averaged record-breaking high temperatures worldwide, BBM.

Billow after billow of rain on strong NW winds surfing the fells, rendering fells invisible until the next wave breaks.
Been a VERY wet 48 hrs.

It appears that there may have been some sort of tornado in the Aberystwyth area - lots of trees down, roads blocked. Expect it'll be on the lunchtime news.

And we now have sleet / snow on west facing N. England fells in the last hour.
                            Temp dropping like a stone.

Lightning has been reported east of Epping just now, and a helluva lot of lightning activity is now taking place around and to the south of Norwich; but it looks as if here we are going to be getting away with it this time: winds gusting at around gale force with leaves flying accompanying a line of large cumulus just now making its way east across the capital, beyond which I can only see clear skies.

Very gusty in central London at lunchtime, but the promised rain held off while I was there.
