I do not drive a car - much to the relief of everyone who knows me as a cyclist or horse-drawn caravan conductor - and this footage proves to me that drivers generally are power-crazed maniacs who consider themselves invulnerable.
Which is why I have trouble crossing the road...

        What a delightful image!

There have been a few such sudden storms not far from here, yet there's been not so much as a suggestion of one actually here; it's beginning to feel like something of a meterological oasis...

It's perhaps a stretch to say that the film of one nutter is proof of such a general conclusion!

But there's a lot of them about, it's true!!

Virgin Media network problem since Tuesday evening, meaning no connection. Freeview aerial apparently kaput. Amazing what a bit of weather can do!

Well it's just beautiful today, with barely a cloud in the sky, the Brixton traffic making the best of the roadworks, and a light haze rendering the view of Croydon from the heights of Streatham Common look almost like a Romantic landscape artist's dream!

This looks like being the last pleasant day of the present warm spell, so make the most of it, wherever you happen to be.

Much drier air up here today, BBM - only 19 C max as compared with yesterday's 25 C, and sauna-like humidity!

Another fabulous sunny day, despite rain being forecast (for the second day running). A lovely walk on Troon beach, followed by lunch of mussels, grilled hake & creamed cabbage & bacon, langoustine, seafood pasta, and home-made icecream (mint - proper mint, not peppermint - strawberry & coconut) (not all of that was mine). Followed by another walk on the beach. Made all the better by realising that after being fitted with a pacemaker last week I could manage a substantial walk (especially after lunch) without feeling breathless or having to stop while my heartbeat retuned to normal.

It's been a lovely week here, far better than the forecast given out on Sunday would have had us believe, and various predictions of thunderstorms and heavy rain have never materialised even though they've had them just a few miles from here. Temperatures have been as high as 28 degrees (reached on Tuesday) and it's been very warm throughout.

It looks a bit downhill from now on assuming, that is, the forecast is correct.
