The high that's giving us this comparatively settled weather is centred a bit too far to the north to give us very high temperatures, but it looks like remaining in the vicinity for the next 5 days at least, with the winds coming from a relatively unpolluted source, so I'm not complaining!

There's an open garden this afternoon in smart Georgian Camberwell Grove - proceeds to charity - so I'll be giving that a visit. Always posh "demure" people at these events - conversation along these lines to be expected: "Did I hear you say you came from Essex? Do they have nice gardens like this one in that part of the world too? I must pay it a visit some day. You listen to Radio 3? Gosh! Did you say you rent your place?" etc etc. :whistle :

Just spent the afternoon on the northernmost beach in mainland Britain - Dunnet. Beautiful!

Whilst the girls went shopping in Glasgow last week, I took the rare opportunity of a day's train and ferry-trip to the beautiful Isle of Arran on the Firth of Clyde. I fell in love with the place as a kid but I don't think I've ever seen it quite as delightful as this. Even the ducks were sheltering from the blazing sun and the many palm trees on the island did not seem at all out of place.

Absolutely idyllic ... here are some pics.

No pics on my MBP, PGT.

Slightly different results in Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but no joyous pics on any.

Same problem here. I just get a 'no entry' icon. But knowing you, Scotty, I am sure that they are brilliant pics.

I don't think my pics will quite match Scotty's, Aly, but let's see how 'joyous' they appear now ...

Certainly is, and there are some lovely beaches too on the NW coast. I remember many years ago swimming near Gairloch in September.

Now works in all aforementioned browsers, and also in Opera on my MBP.
Looks like that was a good day out.

                          'twas indeed, Dave.

I think there may have been a 'Google Privacy' issue with my first attempt so I'll avoid that method like the proverbial plague in the future!

The schools are back today. I think I'll make the most of this and get out on the bike before the Chelsea tractors start clogging up the lanes...

Had a most pleasant whirl round Hyde Park a couple of times listening to the Goldberg Variations played by Lars Vogt live from the Wigmore ... virtually empty (compared with yesterday ) and wonderful in the sun with a pleasant breeze and that music in the lug-'oles (preferable I must say to being sat indoors listening to it up the road in the 'all itself )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
