Yep - we're seeing the start of that here now. Rain is also forecast between 7:00 and 10:00 here this evening - so, just when we're dry indoors watching Rheingold. Such considerate weather!

        24th April: @ 11 a.m. / temp 7C, N/NE winds, sleety rain. Tops shrouded.
Cricket here: sleet stopped play starting.

Longish sunny intervals and nice and cool for Southampton marathon.

But a lot of oak flowers on the ground after a very cold night. Acorn harvest prospects not good!

            Lovely photo, ts

It's as if we've skipped back eight weeks weatherwise in the Pennines today. Very cold, overcast, feeble attempts at drizzle ... and light snow forecast for the middle of next week

For some reason there's no weather here today. You get days like that, I suppose.

Been rather busy today! I think they had the forecast wrong today, surprise. Rather fresh, with sunny periods.

Grey and cold, not much wind at present.

Occasional weak sunshine for a short while.

                          Monday morningish, in other words.

Unbelievably cold for last week in April! The temperature here has not risen above 8 degrees and a frost has been forecast for tonight with sleet and snow possible on higher ground. We've already had a few hefty showers during the day making it feel even colder and it feels more January than coming up to May. Heating well on and Berghaus and woolly hat are the order of the day round here. One of the few days I've had 'white finger syndrome' this year!

I'm reading that Bournemouth, of all places, had heavy snow in its town centre midway through this morning! I was hit by a sudden hailstorm while cycling to Herne Hill this morning. Only petits pois-sized hail but even at that size it don't 'arf sting and make the eyes water if it hits you on the eyeball! On the way back a loud bump of thunder sounded out from a very black cloud to the northeast. Checking the live lightning map I see the strike was over Woolwich - must have been a strong stroke to have given thunder as loud all this distance away!

Snowing in Southampton around midday. Really quite unusual as we often have none in the winter months.
