It was socold in NE London today that I took to wearing a bobble hat, something I rarely do from one year to the next.
Photographic evidence would be welcome (not that I'm doubting you, of course!)...
That so-called "wind chill factor" really does count for something, doesn't it? I only ventured out to get in some wood for the wood burner and if felt like Siberia without the snow and ice, yet the temperature was around 12 degrees!
I'm sure that someone must have noted something along these lines previously (and I'm not about to trawl through the entire thead to find it), but almost 15,200 posts about the weather has to say something, n'est-ce pas?...
Lovely this morning to wake to clear sky, frost, then sun, remaining chilly at 8C but quite invigorating to be out and about in it. Alas it was to be but a short lived interlude here as it's started raining and now a new storm, Gertrude, is forecast. Amber warning for N. Ireland, parts of Scotland, NE & NW, just a yellow warning for other parts
Storm Gertrude causes damage and disruption, with gusts reaching more than 100mph in Shetland.
(I just don't know when I'll be able to spend a weekend in the garden, the ground is still a quagmire but I do finally have tete-a-tetes in flower, which look lovely)

Well, no frost here, thank goodness (there's only been two days of it this winter so far) but it's barely into double figures here at the moment. I didn't know about Gertrude; naming storms seems not to diminish their effect, does it? - and one would have thought that the areas likely to be affected by this one have already had more than their fair share of late...
We were threatened with strong winds of 60 to 70 mph in this neck of the woods today, courtesy of Storm Gertrude, but in the event it was no more windy than normal and it passed very quickly if it was there at all. A damp squib, thank goodness, hardly a storm at all.
My money is on the next storm being called Storm Herbert.

What was happening last night? Never heard a storm like we had before! Pretty scary!
The last legs of storm Gertrude I think, it was awful here too. Still plenty of yellow and amber warnings for Scotland (it seems yesterday Dundee had 80mph winds!!) and lots more wind problems over the UK on Monday it seems, but not too much in the way of rain. Today's been rather nice and sunny but a lot colder.
Gales and lashing rain here in Stirlingshire yesterday followed by snow in the night and a short blizzard when I went for the paper at 7 am this morning. A thaw has taken place during the afternoon but more sleet is promised for tomorrow followed by 65 mph winds on Monday. Dearie me!
