Very pretty - glad I'm indoors, though!
If you're interested there's a weather enthusiasts' forum I've linked to several times upthread, to which contributers send ongoing reports, sometimes in everyday language, sometimes a bit more technical; but it's rather like trying to understand Italian on the basis of O Level Spanish - you can kind of get the gist of what they're talking about. Bit like on here, sometimes!

Yes but that's understanding the simpler by way of the more complex, not the other way around!

We have snow too, down here! I hope the forecast of rain tonight will be rid of this white stuff!

Just fetched the paper. Misty, chilly, dank down here.

Up here - fine but very cold. Earlier snow frozen solid. Not easy walking.

I awoke to about a centimetre of the white stuff on grass and tree branches - most of which now gone: upstair's small child having used up half of it to create a snowperson about a metre high. The man upstairs has just congratulated me on my accurate forecast! A light mixture of snow and rain falling as I write - temperature 3.5 degrees C.

Lovely crunchy-underfoot snow all around today. Made for a lovely, grateful-to-be-alive walk. The thermometer says its as cold as yesterday - but it "feels" milder. Interesting, too, to see from the pawprints how much use of my driveways and garden is made by the neighbouring cats.

Before I went to bed late last night I checked the Met Office and it was really interesting that the weather system had stalled, two fronts meeting, resulting in the 100 mile wide line of rain turning to snow (totally bypassing Wales & The West)

Friday and yesterday morning the Beacons looked wonderful, absolutely bright white and sparkling in the sunshine. Unfortunately today is grey, misty, light rain and around 3.5, the last couple of days of 'proper' Winter weather (sunny blue skies, frost, cold) did make everyone feel a lot happier but it looks like we'll get back to milder and wet gloom again Are they still forecasting intense cold around end of February?

Anna I think some of the experts were forecasting cold weather right through February, but the bets all seem off right now.

I hope those who got snow get rid of it quickly. We missed it on the east of the country (forecasters got it right for once) and today is a pleasant sunny day, although cold at 3ยบ C.

Had some heavy overnight snow here but a good deal of it has now disappeared. Like Ferney I've also noticed that it actually feels slightly less cold than yesterday even though the thermometer reads the same temperature. There could be a big problem if this freezes overnight.
