    If statues could talk.

    On TV today.

Recently I watched FLOG IT and the presenter said Worcester was known for its Sauce.

The statue of Elgar would have had a answer to that.

Any other statues come to mind?

I'd be interested to hear what the child Mozart would have to say about his stay in London. There's a statue of him, aged 8, on the corner of Ebury Street and Pimlico Road.

Good morning and what a joy to see a saymap new thread again.

There is a park in Vienna with grand statues of The Waltz King (gold and with floodlights), Zemlinsky and others. Beside the pond covered in bird droppings is a small head of poor old Bruckner. As I walked past I always wondered ....what would he say about this if he could only talk?

I'm not really into statues or busts for that matter. The last one I noticed was the one of Sir Malcolm Sargent in the window by the stairs in the RAH. Very glad to read that you are now getting some enjoyment from TV, so hopefully your vision and hearing are now at least partially functional.

        Bestio again.

        D.

I have always wondered whether Eros in Shaftebury Avenue might say something unprintable

New spex tomorrow but hearing aids
            beingn repaced, thanks.

The story on TV [Breakfast], said some London statues have been fitted with electronic boxes where one can 'talk' to [wellI watched Queen Victoria and one other]

Well known actors have recorded messages apparently. Daft idea.

            Bestio

My daughter, who is old enough to have given this sort of thing up more than half the years of her real age ago, has an Eeyore toy which will answer questions when one talks to it, and presses its "hoof". Today we asked what the weather was going to be like, and the response was "You can't win them all!"

Maybe statues could incorporate this kind of technology.

Sounds like a great idea for an opera...

Funny you start this today saly: this morning I've picked up some scanned versions of old photos from trips (lots of old negatives came to light in recent decorations, and I took a random selection in to be scanned) - and among them was this photo I'd totally forgotten about, of JSB gazing out in front of the Thomaskirche (taken c. 1991)

He'd have had a thing or two to say about things he'd witnessed since he was cast in that form in 1908...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Thanks Cali, I just heard Queen Victoria saying she never said she was NOT amused and Sherlock Holmes saying he never wore a Deerstalker hat.

We could almost write the quotes for them.
