    Celebrity actors

Rather sad to see that the Edinburgh International Festival is resorting to promoting plays by focussing on the TV programmes actors have appeared in; this appeared in an email promoting three plays about James I, James II & James III -

"With starring roles for The Killing's Sofie Gråbøl, Game of Thrones' Jamie Sives and Taggart's Blythe Duff, it's set to be one of the biggest hits of the Festival"

It reads like a BBC press release (BBC progs only).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It is sad. Really, promoters should emphasise the works that are being performed - are these newly written? Who's written them? Why the interest in the first three Jameses - anything to do with the Independence vote? What are the socio-political ...

      Hold on!

      Sofie Grabol?!

Errm ... You haven't got dates for these productions have you, Flossie?

To be fair, the email did include this -

"The James Plays open today! The new cycle of plays by Rona Munro - James I, James II and James III ... will see the three generations of Stewart kings brought to life on stage. Check out BBC Arts for some great James Plays coverage - including preview scenes from each of the plays!"

                Really, Ferney, how shallow!

They open today & will run throughout the first two weeks of the Festival until 22 August. So you'd better hop on a train soon

I do enjoy rustling up a kilt - especially if it's being worn in the tradional manner.
