    i did not intend this thread as an analysis of the rights and wrongs of war strategies and moral judgements of military options .... simply as an indication of the simple power of a memorial art work to one war as a memorial to another ... shall we leave the dead in peace?

      Calum, there's no need to be high-handed about this. If you want to dictate what does and doesn't go on in a discussion, you need to be a bit clearer in your initial post. However, I'm sorry if I helped to detract from the spirit intended, and will desist.

        I don’t think Japan as a nation has any excuse for what they did in the war, and it could be accused of presenting itself to the world as an innocent victim of the atomic bombs. I think Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the reminders of what nuclear weapons are capable of doing.
