My favourite sport event of the year comes round again and fantastic to see Geraint Thomas become the first Welshman to don the Maillot Jaune. Terrific performance by him in the rain on the prologue time trial, even if the cameras missed most of his efforts as he wasn't considered to be in contention.
Britain's Geraint Thomas wins the opening time trial of the 2017 Tour de France in wet conditions in Dusseldorf.

Well the cameras are not missing him this year. I hope that I'm not tempting fate by saying how delighted I am to see Geraint take the Maillot Jaune into Paris today. As someone who has followed his exploits over the years I thought he might not manage it as there always seemed to be a wee accident waiting to happen. Not this year. G has been in imperious form throughout Le Tour and it's fantastic to see him get his reward - he always seems a right decent guy - all Wales must be celebrating today!

Cheered to the echo and I hope a shoo-in for sports personality of the year, if the Beeb still runs it. A truly great sporting achievement.
