    Salymap's first thread of 2014 ...

Chatting to salymap this morning, she mentioned a TV subtitle blooper that had tickled her fancy. During the broadcast of Trooping The Colour the commentator said not once but on two occasions "three carriages are coming up the Strand" and on each occasion this was written as "three cabbages are coming up the Strand"

While I was chortling at this, salymap came up with "on the Strand? I bet those cabbages were Savoy!"

She's still as quick as a whip and getting better by the day I'm glad to report - big hearing test at home on Friday when she'll also put in a bid for a big eye test which may lead to their prescribing some really good spex that will mean that salymap can come on this Board once more.

So ... what TV subtitle bloopers have tickled your fancy?

But it wasn't the Coleslaw Guards this year. It was the Grenadines. Scotch Guards next.

Hard to top that one! (and I don't think I've had a TV since the arrival of subtitles).

          But 'Welcome back, salymap'
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Hallelujah! "Richard's himself again!" What a refreshing booster to the start of a new week. Stay unregenerate, saly!

Not sure about tv subtitles but I once saw the 'Play School' presenter Brian Cant's name misspelled in a newspaper...

When the Chinese calendar changed early this year, BBC Breakfast subtitles read 'Welcome to the Year of the Whores' instead of Year of the Horse.
