I thought this was interesting: "He or she is also responsible for the commissioning and scheduling of Radio 3 and the delivery of the annual BBC Proms, through the Director of the BBC Proms, who the new Controller will appoint and manage." Does that really mean that when Kenyon resigned CR3 appointed himself? It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

No, french frank, although our mutual friend considers that you would be ideal for the role. It is possible, of course, that Radio 3 could be run by the present Controller of Radio 4, as the same management could be in charge of both. The Proms job is in many ways more attractive than the Radio 3 job, and you probably do need a proven classical music administrator for this particular role?

But it presupposes that the strategy which considers presenters are the way to attract new listeners to Radio 3 is the way forward. I personally think that Radio 3 already has one or two suitable candidates. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal.
