    I think it down to my hosts' dietary regime which is simply only two meals/day (12:00 and 21:00) which can be as large as you like + tea and cake at 16:00, gin & tonic at 18:00. I like to think that it's the gin that makes the difference.

      I know... any lengthy spell in France has always led to the weight falling off me too! The year I spent there left me positively rake-like ... despite crash testing innumerable crèmes brûlées, Breton butter biscuits and what have you.

        I think it is the quality of the vegetables I always want to eat lots more of them when I am in France !
