Most certainly had not missed it when it was linked to earlier. That programme was about a year or so before I got to know Brian through the Scratch Orchestra and his fairly brief association with Promenade Theatre Orchestra (P.T.O.).

I've been trying to find out the name of the child actress the BBC employed to play the part of girls of between 9 and 13 in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was in serialisations such as The Secret Garden, and was the young Estella in what was probably the first serialisation of Great Expectations.

          Helen Lindsay?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Sandra Michaels? Helen Lindsay played the young adult Estella, did she not?

Well done for finding that photograph. I searched in vain.

However, I note that it is to be shown again from 06:45 (a.m.) on April Fools' Day. I will make a note in my diary to set the timer.
Have London Live worked out how to show programmes in the right aspect ratio yet?

Sandra Michaels would seem to be the one.

Heinz! Blimey - that goes all the way back to the first series with the Canadian presenter. Bernie the Bolt, Bob Monkhouse and Anne Aston in my day! (Then Charlie Williams, then Bob Monkhouse again.)

There would be a thick wad of H and S regulations today, what with members of the public being enouraged to loose off crossbow bolts ( or whatever) in confined spaces.

As an example, and this is a fact, Avebury was closed last week by the NT/ EH during the high winds , on safety grounds.
AFAIK, no stones actually blew over though.

Anyway, proper telly, the Golden Shot.
