it's back on R4 with Russell Davies in the chair. Mondays at 3pm.
Yes, he's an excellent chairman, as he is for Brain of Britain. I enjoy 'straight' quiz programmes (i.e. ones that aren't full of celebs being O So Spontaneously Witty). Paul Gambaccini was a bit toe-curling, so thank goodness Counterpoint is back in safe hands.

Does she ? I doubt she could make it any worse - a ghastly programme that even tops its predecessor Home Truths for middle class whimsy

Why was Gambaccini brought back for semi finals and final of Counterpoint? Russell Davies was doing fine. Very dry humour. Now we are submitted to the American "smart ass wise cracks" . the programme has died as far as I'm concerned.

Paul Bajoria the producer is very loyal to the people he works with and was unwilling to go ahead without PG.
Russell was introduced to us contestants as "keeping the seat warm" during Paul Gambaccini's absence.
As soon as the CPS dropped the case we knew he would return.

Thanks for this clarification Stephen. I have never had any problem with PG presenting Counterpoint - I think he does an excellent job.

Oh, and congratulations on the win!!
