    Where is BBC radio "Counterpoint"

Where is the BBC Radio long running music quiz show "Counterpoint" this year? It usually starts in April or May. Is it because Mr Gambuccinni is not available?

Sounds a feeble excuse - not exactly rocket science - Catriona Young would be an ideal choice!

So Paul Gambaccini took over from Ned Sherrin?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'd forgotten about Ned Sherrin's reign - he always sounded rather bored whereas Paul Gambaccini tends to sound rather excited.

A job for Ms Klein from Radio 3 perhaps?

I see Edward Seckerson hosted the 2007 series. I can think of a couple of Radio 3 presenters who could probably have made themselves available, even at short notice.

I thought NS did it very well...he could think on his feet...but I'm afraid PG just made my toes curl. Shame the programme has been binned tho'. Format just not silly enough for today's BBC?

Delighted it's gone. Awful programme - although the pleasure of hearing people struggle through the music of popular beat combos from the 1960s and onwards made it worth listening to.

The only downside is that it'll probably be replaced by another panel programme.

I'm afraid that for me Paul Gambaccini was frankly not a good idea in the first place. A real gritting of teeth experience.
Russell Davies took over and was a huge improvement.
